Can you actually make a Dark Side tonight?
Out of Barolo Chinato? Bart suggests a substitute from the bottles you already own, then still pours the drink. On this page you only get the general answer.
About the Dark Side
Created by bartender Adam Bernbach in Washington, D.C., the Dark Side is a modern-classic cocktail that showcases the rich, herbal depth of Barolo chinato, a quinine-laced aromatized wine. Combined with gin and Peychaud’s bitters, this drink offers a sophisticated balance of botanicals, bitterness, and spice.
Originally crafted during Bernbach’s 'Cocktail Sessions' program, where guests explored original cocktails inspired by classics, the Dark Side has become a staple among those who enjoy spirit-forward drinks with a complex edge. It shares similarities with the Martinez but leans into a darker, more brooding profile.
