About the Michelada
The Michelada is a classic Mexican beer cocktail that combines a refreshing lager with lime juice, hot sauce, and spices for a flavorful and savory experience. Its origins are rooted in mid-20th century Mexico, where serving beer with lime and salt became popular. The name 'Michelada' is derived from a mix of 'chela' (slang for beer), 'helada' (cold), and 'mi' (my), roughly translating to 'my cold beer.'
This version of the Michelada skips the tomato juice seen in some recipes, instead focusing on the Mexico City-style preparation with lime, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, and seasonings. Served with a salt-cayenne rim and a chilled Mexican lager, it's a perfect cocktail for spice lovers and beer enthusiasts alike.
